Saying they've worked with him in the past, and know his character, Greg and Missi Smith lent their support this morning to Kansas Senate-hopeful Todd Tiahrt at a news conference in front of their Overland Park home. The Smiths say the main reason for their endorsement of Tiahrt has to do with his work on getting a bill named after their daughter to the federal level. They say Congressman Jerry Moran, Tiahrt's opponent, told them the bill is a state by state issue, not a federal one. Smith is also running for office, seeking to serve in the state legislature. Tiahrt offered his endorsement as well.
