Inmates' Writing Published

It's a creative writing class but the classroom is behind bars. Female inmates at the Douglas County Jail are expressing themselves through writing and some of the work as been published. Iris Wilkinson teaches the class. She says the inmates are generally minimum security and are there because of alcohol or drug related offenses. The collection of poems, essays, and short stories are featured in a book called "Women of Colour" which is available at the Raven Bookstore in Lawrence.
