While the Kansas Governor has found money to make the early payments to school districts it's not enough for some. Shawnee Mission School District entered into last week looking at about 7-hundred-thousand dollars in cuts from the state... now... it's about two-million. This after Governor Mark Parkinson had to find ways to tweak the budget when the revenue coming in wasn't near as high as thought. Tim Rooney is the Budget and Finance Director for Shawnee Mission Schools. He says with the state borrowing money to make the first round of payments kind of softens the blow. The District -- like many others -- is stuck. They've already maxed out on the Local Option Budget bringing in local taxdollars. Rooney says for now... just hope it doesn't get any worse.
