In Kansas City, Kansas, fire crews usually deal with a bit of a
different July 4th animal than the rest of the metro. Much of
Wyandotte County allows the recreational use of at least some
fireworks and that can lead to more problems than in other places.
Assistant Fire Chief Craig Duke tells KMBZ they dealt with 5 house
fires, one vehicle fire and 11 other fires last year, all related to
fireworks. Duke does say his department has more than enough staff to
serve the public.
