It's a Fourth of July tradition.. no more. The fireworks show at
Shawnee Mission Park has been cancelled because of the tight economy.
Shawnee and Lenexa usually split the 70-thousand dollar pricetag..
but cannot justify it this year with layoffs pending. Officials in
both cities said they hope this is temporary. They hope to restart
the tradition when the economy improves.
