A Dental office in Independence was burned to the ground overnight Wednesday according to fire officials and it may have been arson.
Authorities responded to an automatic commercial alarm sounded by the Enhanced Dental Care office at 40 Highway and Norfleet Road at around 12:40 this morning.
Two suspects had broken into the office and not long after, police said they saw smoke rising from the building. It wasn't long until the entire building was engulfed in flame.
Authorities informed KMBZ the suspects appeared to have been trying to set fire to the building.
It became a standoff involving police, fire officials and the two suspects who remained inside. At around 6:30 a.m. one of the suspects tried to run from the scene, but was apprehended and sent to the hospital with several burns.
There is still no word of the fate of the second suspect, who police say, never came out.
