Tuesday was primary day in Kansas, and the lists of candidates for municipal and other offices were whittled down. The story from KMBZ's Ken James...
(KMBZ-AM) Overall, voters advanced a lot of incumbents in yesterday's primary elections... but not many voters actually turned up.
As expected, turnout was under 10 percent in elections in Johnson, Wyandotte, and Leavenworth counties.
Fairway mayor John Saint Clair, along with Jerry Wiley and Penny Gilbert advanced to the General Election.
Roeland Park mayor Steve Petrehn, as well as Scott Gregory and Adrienne Foster go on.
And in Merriam, mayor Carl Wilkes, Ken Sissom, and Dan Leap made it to the general election.
The mayor of Gardner decided not to run again...so David Drovetta, Larry Fotovich, and Dan Thompson advanced.
In Wyandotte County...the incumbent sheriff Leroy Green made it out.
There were also races for council members, school board members, and board of public utility members.
