A former employee of Missouri's Division of Family Services says he's guilty of promoting child pornography. Roger J. Kromko, 63, admitted in Platte County Circuit Court that he used the Internet to distribute images of child pornography.
In December 2006 a Platte County Sheriff's Department detective assigned to the county's Cyber Crimes Unit used peer-to-peer networking software to search for known child pornography on the Internet. The search revealed a computer in St. Joseph offering to distribute child pornography.
Further investigation revealed the suspect computer was located at Kromko's residence. Detectives later executed a search warrant at the home and seized Kromko's computer and other evidence.
Kromko had been employed by the Missouri Division of Family Services. He had retired from state employment before the child pornography investigation began. He also has a pending charge in Buchanan County for possession of child pornography.
