Conservatives shouldn't be so thin-skinned!
The fact the Department of Homeland Security has issued a report linking members of ultra right wing extremists groups with Conservative political positions IS NOT THE SAME as suggesting all political Conservatives are right wing extremists.

Get ready...the topic of Immigration Reform may be about to rear it's ugly head again on Capital Hill.  Are there more Americans willing to come to terms with the likelihood that "rounding'em all up" and "sending 'em back" is politically unrealistic?

North Korea launches a missile…and depending who you ask, it was either a marketing success or the communist nation’s latest technological embarrassment.

As Mayor Funkhouser dismisses the latest recall effort, the current petition drive nonetheless appears more organized than last year’s effort.

Bad news and good news
regarding the economy today.

And on the heels of an ABC/Washington Post survey released earlier this week with more people saying the country is on the “right track,” Fox News has a poll today with most people predicting the economy to worsen in the foreseeable future.

Protests

Biggest international news story…no, not

President Obama giving an IPOD to the Queen of England…it’s the G-20 Protests in London.

Although it can be argued protests were effective in the 1960s…are they so effective today?

At Tuesday night’s Presidential Press Conference,
NBC’s Chuck Todd asked if American’s should be asked to “sacrifice”.  The President responded American’s are all ready making sacrifices by virtue of making do in a down economy.
Exactly what kind of “sacrifice” did Chuck Todd have in mind?????

As President Obama reels from recent media appearances, the markets cheer on Tim Geitner’s bank rescue plan.  Interestingly, liberal NY Times columnist Paul Krugman slams the latest government rescue.

Does the President need to
confront the left flank in his party?

  Is the Republican Party being
hindered by excessive internal strife
?

As Sen. Chris Dodd continues trying to spin a straight story, the US House passes a bill to go after the AIG bonuses.
Here's the
Roll Call from today's vote in the US House
.

Wednesday March 18, 2009

As Team Obama’s staunch reaction to the AIG bonuses continues to backfire, there are conflicting press accounts over the roll of Senator Chris Dodd.  Some accounts say he tampered with an Amendment to last month's Stimulus Package that limited contractual bonuses to firms receiving TARP funds while Dodd himself claims his own attempt to limit bonuses got modified without his knowing it.

The staff of the S&P Show will now call it a day and let everyone else figure out what’s going on...

Monday March 16, 2009

Which is worse; AIG handing out millions of dollars in executive bonuses despite having received TARP funds…or populist minded Democrats calling for retribution against AIG employees for accepting their contractually bound bonus money????????????

Justin, the next time you attempt disguising your enjoyment of the Shanin & Parks Show with
a dismissive screed, please note that SHANIN is only spelled with one N, not two.

Michael Steele v. the Republican Party???

As the Presdient maintains a strong approval rating and Congresional approval builds, things seem to be getting
progressively more difficult for RNC Chair Michael Steele.

Sanders v. Funkhouser
KC Mayor Mark Funkhouser says Kansas City  must either pull it's 2 million dollars in annual funding for the Truman Sports Complex or face making cuts in the police department.  Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders' says Funkhouser's solution would violate the county's 25 year lease with the Royals and Chiefs.
Is this another misstep for Mayor Funkhouser?
Surely, there are other cuts to be made in the city budget without jeopardizing the county leases at the Truman Sports Complex.

Limbaugh vs Obama?

Is it a really slow news week...or does America's interest in the Rush vs Steele/Obama feuds really justify the constant media coverage this subject has generated all over the news media?

Monday March 2, 2009

Steele vs Limbaugh
Is Michael Steele the true leader of the Republican Party by virtue of being RNC Chair?
Or
is Rush Limbaugh defacto leader by commanding the largest following amongst Conservatives?
Does this represent the current
GOP internal conflict between  the "True Believers" and the Evangelizers?
