Friends and family of Kansas City police officers are collecting items for Texas first responders and their families who have been affected by floods.

The KCPD Friends and Family organization is teaming up with Bless The Badge to collect everything from personal hygiene items to trash bags.

They want to help those who are helping others, said volunteer Andrea Phillips.

"They're exhausted, going on very little sleep, so we're wanting to try to get them some things that will help them," Phillips said. "They're probably have to change their socks every so often because they're soaked."

Donated items can be dropped off at any police station in Kansas City.
