Frigid temps suspected in death of man in Kansas City
January 02, 2018 - 2:12 pm
Categories:
Kansas City, MO - The Kansas City Health Department is investigating the death of a 50-year-old man who may have died from the region's frigid temperatures.
The health department did not provide information on where the man was found, whether inside or outdoors.
Bill Snook, KCHD, did say during deep freezes, people have to consider the wind chill during long exposures to the cold.
Snook says hypothermia can set in with prolonged exposure.
Adult symptoms are excessive shivering, exhaustion, and dizziness.
In young children, skin can be bright red, but feels cold to the touch.
