First public golf course designed by Tiger Woods to be built in Missouri
Tiger Woods announced Tuesday his company is designing its first public golf course, to be located at Big Cedar Lodge in Ridgedale, Missouri.
Ridgedale is just south of the resort city of Branson. The course will be named for Springfield native and three-time PGA Major winner Payne Stewart, who died in an airplane accident in 1999.
"To have an opportunity to represent Payne, his entire family and what he's meant to the state of Missouri, to the Ozarks, it's an honor for me," Woods said.
As a designer, Woods has completed two private courses: Bluejack National near Houston and Diamante's El Cardonal in Mexico. The company is called TGR Design.
Woods previewed his announcement via Twitter. The course will be named Payne's Valley at Big Cedar Lodge. Opening is set for some time in 2018.
