A fair number of the Kansas City voters who will determine the future of KCI at the ballot box Nov. 7 are concerned about convenience, a matter the contractor says is being addressed.

Edgemoor Infrastructure & Real Estate officials have held multiple meetings with the public over its plan to build a single terminal at the airport to upgrade the current layout.

The basic design is in place, but it is subject to fine tuning. One thing a lot of Kansas City people like about the current terminals is the convenience of pick-up and drop-off of travelers.

The new terminal, if approved by voters, will maintain user friendliness, said Geoffrey Stricker, Edgemoor managing director.

"The drop-off piece is similar to drop-off curbside," Stricker said. "We think it's more convenient with splitting of departures and arrivals."

The design also features a parking garage with 6,500 spaces, with another 2,000 spaces on adjacent surface lots. Edgemoor says if voters approve the one terminal configuration, there would be more public meetings before the design is finalized.

"We will continue to look at ways to make travel distances and other things as convenient as possible for the citizens," Stricker said.
