Kansas City, MO - USMC veteran Rob Jones, 32, is running 26.2 miles in Kansas City on Monday, October 23rd - his 12th city toward his goal of completing 31 marathons, in 31 cities in 31 days.

Jones is a double leg amputee - he lost both his legs, above the knees, to an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan in 2010. He was serving as a combat engineer.

"My recovery was about a year and a half, from a mental perspective," said Jones, a native of Virginia. "I have a knack for kind of accepting my situation and moving on with what needs to be done."

Jones set his sights on helping other disabled veterans. He took up running and kept with it.

Folks can learn more about Jones and his quest, and even join him on his runs around the country.

"Just because a veteran comes home wounded doesn't mean that they're broken or incapable of reintegrating into society and benefitting society and their families," Jones said.

He plans to finish his odessey at Washington's National Mall on Veterans Day.
