Sandra Bullock, Melissa McCarthy Hit NYC for "The Heat" Premiere

Jim Spellman/WireImage(NEW YORK) -- New York City felt The Heat Sunday night, when it hosted the world premiere of the Sandra Bullock-Melissa McCarthy cop comedy.

Bullock plays an FBI special agent who teams up with a profane cop -- McCarthy's character -- to take down a drug lord.  Bullock says she grew close with her co-star as they worked on the film.

"Relationship during the film was 15-to-16-hour days, you have to rely on each other, especially when you're super-tired. ...Our kids fell in love, which was very helpful.  I love her husband and that goes for right now as well.  They've allowed me into their family and I feel really lucky because of it," Bullock said on the red carpet.

While McCarthy has made moviegoers laugh in the past with hits like Bridesmaids and Identity Thief, there is a certain type of comedy she will not do.

"I wouldn't take pot shots at someone.  I don't find it funny.  I think it's cheap.  I think you can make fun of yourself," she said.

The Heat opens this Friday.
