Kansas City's Morning News with E.J. & Ellen

Ellen Schenk has been the co-anchor of  Kansas City's Morning News on KMBZ for more than a decade.   After graduating from the University of Missouri, Ellen's broadcasting career has included jobs as a disc jockey, talk show host and even a brief stint at Metro traffic, cut short by a most unfortunate air sickness incident.  Ellen lives in Lee's Summit with her husband Kevin and their menagerie: two dogs, a cat and a horse.  Her idea of a perfect day?  Any day she can "sleep-in".

E.J. came to Kansas City's Morning News in May 2007 after spending his first and only winter in Florida.  He's been quoted as saying, "winters in Florida rock!  But the people...they drive...so...s l o w l y."  E.J. was born and raised in Evansville, Indiana where news director Lisa Carter hired him for his first radio gig about the same time Garth Brooks came onto the scene.  Clearly Garth had more success with country music radio than E.J.  Fort Myers, Cleveland, and Pittsbugh have all heard E.J.'s voice and he's also worked in radio and TV in Vienna, Austria (stell' dir vor!). During his years there, he also ate schnitzel, Sacher Torte (he has a particular affinity for lunch), sang in the opera and even worked in radio thus setting up his return to the business in the states.  Current claim to fame:  an appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman
