Leavenworth County Sheriff Dave Zoellner says authorities are reaching out to residents in an expanded area to see if they know about a 5-year-old girl's shooting. The Leavenworth County girl was critically wounded February 23rd while playing outside a rural home near Linwood. Authorities say the girl and her two brothers were playing and heard a noise that sounded like a clap. The girl fell to the ground, and the boys called their father who found the girl bleeding from the head.
